Sun Fire X2200 M2 server was designed from the start to seamlessly transition multiple generations of AMD Opteron processors.  Its balanced I/O and memory architecture enable performance enhancements through low-cost, easy-to-use Upgrade Kits for Sun Fire X2200 M2, rather than complete system replacement.  

The Sun Fire X2200 M2 server can run Solaris, Linux, Ubuntu, Windows and VMware operating systems, broadening the range of applications.

AMD Opteron Quad-Core processors  with its new AMD Balanced Smart Cache, AMD Wide Floating Point Accelerator and Memory Optimizer Technology enable Quad Core Sun Fire X2200 M2 servers to offer outstanding application scalability and performance.

With eight DIMM slots per CPU, the Sun Fire X2200 M2 server offers industry-leading memory capacity in a 1RU entry server making the system ideal for memory intensive applications such as Abacus, Fluent, PowerFLOW - or the memcache tier of web services architectures.

With two PCI-Express expansion slots and four ethernet ports, the Sun Fire X2200 M2 server offers leading expandability for connectivity. The server is ideal for high performance computing applications using attached, rather than onboard storage, or complex high speed interconnects.
